How to annoy super delegates

Wait. So Hillary Clinton wins West Virginia by a huge margin, and Obama receives more super and pledged delegates, along with the endorsements of John Edwards, the United Steelworkers Union and NARAL? Truly the end (of the primary) is near.

Edwards’ endorsement in particular kills Clinton’s new narrative that she has the momentum. Tuesday was supposed to be the night that revealed she was the stronger candidate, but the events of the past few days have shown how little support she has among the Democratic Party. She can’t keep tilting at windmills forever.

Bush also made some stupid remark about Obama being an “appeaser” of terrorists, resulting in one of the great moments of TV punditry. Watch in awe.

I’m pretty sure I’ve done more super delegate cartoons than anybody else, and today’s cartoon keeps that streak alive. This cartoon was thankfully produced after the results of the Indiana and North Carolina primaries, so I actually had something to talk about.

How to Annoy Super Delegates

One type of strip I try to avoid is the “Jim does something crazy and Jillian disapproves” strip, which I had managed to run into the ground during my first year doing this. Occasionally they pop up again when I’m desperate or when it’s really funny, but I like it a lot more when Jillian and Jim work together.

In terms of art, I wanted a looser sense of movement to the characters, which I felt had sometimes grown stiff and unappealing. So in this strip the characters break model a little bit to create some sense of energy.

Fun Fact #46: Speaking of John Edwards, there was nothing more entertaining than watching Pat Buchanan responding to Edwards’ endorsement of Obama. Check it out right here; it's long but worth it.

And here’s him calling Rachel Maddow’s statements during the Pennsylvania Primary “Marxist.”

Remember, this man tried to run for president.

I hope he never leaves.
