20 Questions with Amanda Miller
What is your favorite TV show? — I don’t watch TV.
What is your favorite place in Seattle? — The arboretum in the springtime — everything is in bloom, and it’s so pretty.
What is the best class you’ve taken at UW? — I really like my anatomy class right now; it’s pretty applicable to what I’m interested in.
If you didn’t play your sport, which sport would you have played? — Soccer. I’ve played soccer for eleven years.
Who is your hero? — My dad. When my parents divorced when I was little, my dad wanted to keep me so bad, he paid my mom child support so that he could raise me, and he’s done a really good job raising me by himself.
Who is your favorite athlete at the UW and why? — Ashley Lodree (UW alumna, track), because she was always such a good competitor and so dedicated to what she’s doing.
What is your favorite food? — I really like Thai food, especially with peanut sauce and curry sauce.
If you could go any place in the world, where would you go? — Either Switzerland or New Zealand, because the mountains are so beautiful there.
What’s the worst pick-up line you’ve ever heard? — “Nice boobs.”
What attracts you most to the opposite sex? — I really like athletic guys, guys that are adventurous that like to go out and do cool stuff.
What is one thing you can’t live without? — Yogurt or dark chocolate.
What is your favorite type of music or favorite band? — Rap and hip-hop is actually my favorite. I really like Black Eyed Peas.
What do you want to be doing five years from now? — Practicing physical therapy, still running and living happily ever after with my fiancé.
What is one thing most people don’t know about you? — I once had shorter hair than most guys do — not that short, but at least an inch and a half.
Who has the best parties on campus? — You’re asking the wrong girl.
Who is your favorite pro-athlete or professional team? — (Mid-distance runner) Suzie Hamilton.
What is your most embarrassing moment? — When we went to the WSU dual meet, I was getting interviewed by the Grant County Journal, and they said, “Hey, we want to take a picture with you.” As I was running towards them, I totally did not see the track barrier in front of me and totally ran right into it, and everybody on the team watched it and shook their head and laughed.
If you didn’t go to the UW, where would you have most likely gone? — Duke or West Point, but I didn’t really want to spend five years after West Point [in the army].
What is your favorite restaurant in Seattle? — Racha in downtown Seattle; [they have] really good Thai food. They have lychee smoothies, and I love lychees — they’re so good.
If you could trade places with the opposite sex for a day, what would you do? — I’d probably try to see how much faster I would run as a guy than as a girl.
